The UK government has just announced big changes to how certain aesthetic procedures are regulated and it’s news we’re very happy to hear.
The aim? To protect the public from unsafe treatments carried out by unqualified individuals and to give clients peace of mind that the person carrying out their treatment is both trained and properly regulated.
Why Are The New Rules Being Introduced?
In recent years, there’s been a worrying rise in reports of people being harmed by poorly performed treatments, everything from permanent scarring to dangerous complications. Many of these cases have involved so-called “cowboy” practitioners operating from often unsafe locations such as homes, hotels and pop-up clinics.
The new rules will make sure that high-risk treatments can only be carried out by qualified healthcare professionals working in registered premises. Lower-risk aesthetic procedures like Botox® and dermal fillers will also be subject to stricter licensing, meaning practitioners will have to meet safety, training and insurance standards before they can offer them.
A Welcome Change For Clients & The Industry
At La Fuente Clinic, we believe these changes are a win-win for both clients and reputable practitioners. For clients, it means more protection, higher standards and reassurance that your safety comes first. For the industry, it helps to highlight the difference between trained professionals working in clinical environments and unregulated providers offering treatments at suspiciously low prices.
This step towards tighter regulation has also been welcomed by the British Beauty Council, who have long been campaigning for increased safety standards in aesthetic procedures.
What This Means For You At La Fuente
While these changes will bring a new level of accountability to the industry, our clients can rest assured that La Fuente has always met — and exceeded — the safety, training and hygiene standards the government is now enforcing.
All of our aesthetic procedures are carried out by highly trained and experienced individuals in a professional environment. We only use licensed products, follow the highest hygiene protocols and take the time to ensure every treatment is safe, tailored and effective.
The beauty of having both a Nurse Prescriber (Narinder) and a Non-Medic Practitioner (Larissa) on our team is that it allows us to offer a wide range of treatments, from advanced injectables to skin-boosting facials, all under the watchful eye of experienced, qualified professionals. This blend of medical expertise and aesthetic artistry means you can feel confident that your safety, results and overall experience are always our top priority.
Our Advice If You’re Considering Aesthetic Procedures
If you’re looking into aesthetic procedures, always:
- Check your practitioner’s qualifications and credentials.
- Make sure they work in a properly licensed clinic.
- Avoid treatments that seem “too cheap to be true” — they often are.
Your safety, health and long-term results are far too important to risk with an unqualified provider.
These new regulations are a big step towards ensuring that aesthetic procedures are safe, ethical and carried out by people who genuinely know what they’re doing, something we’ve been committed to from day one at La Fuente.
