Invisalign®

What It Is

Have you ever wanted perfectly straight teeth without having to fill your mouth with metal? Well, now that’s possible! Invisalign® is an innovative new approach to teeth straightening that uses custom-made aligners to gradually shift your teeth into place. If you opt for Invisalign®, you won’t need to worry about metal brackets being attached to your teeth or having them painfully maintained and tightened. Better yet, the majority of people won’t even be aware that you are wearing braces!

Invisalign® braces are made to fit your mouth and your mouth alone – this means that they are smooth and comfortable, and the lack of metal means you won’t be party to any of those horrible cold sensations. The use of plastic also makes Invisalign® invisible and removable, so you’ll be smiling more during your treatment as well as after.

If you are looking to improve your smile but the idea of metal braces has you wishing for more, then Invisalign® is the solution for you.

The Treatment

Every smile is unique, and we think that every treatment should be too. That is why Invisalign® treatment starts with a consultation so a doctor can create a digital map of your teeth and provide you with your unique plan of action. During this time a mould of your teeth will also be taken to ensure that your custom-made Invisalign® aligners will fit your mouth correctly whilst pressure is also applied to just the right places to improve your smile.

Once your aligners and treatment plan have been approved, your Invisalign® braces will be made. Patients will usually have one aligner per every two-week period, and during your treatment, it is important that you wear your aligners for at least 20 hours a day. Once your treatment is complete you will be provided with a retainer to wear periodically at night to help you maintain your new smile.

The beauty of Invisalign® is that it doesn’t stop after you have been given your retainers. Instead, every couple of months you will have a routine appointment to make sure that everything is unfolding as predicted and any necessary adjustments can be made.

Am I Suitable For Treatment?

Invisalign® is a great solution for both adults and teenagers who are looking for a more comfortable method of straightening their teeth and working towards that superb new smile. No treatment is ever the same but generally speaking, even if you have had a crown or veneer, we should still be able to realign your teeth. Unfortunately, if you have had a dental implant, only the teeth surrounding your implant can be moved.

For a concrete answer on whether Invisalign® is right for you, visit us for a consultation! You will have the chance to meet with one of our trained medical professionals to discuss any anxieties you may have and to ask any specific questions. During this session, we will also examine your medical history to determine whether you are suitable for Invisalign® and to talk you through the results you can expect to achieve.

FAQ's

Does it hurt?

You may experience some discomfort with Invisalign® after the aligners have been fitted, however, for the majority of patients this pain subsides within the first few days of treatment.

When will I feel the results?

It is unlikely that you will see visible results in the first few weeks as changes will take place gradually. Many of our patients report subtle changes to their teeth after the first three months.

How many treatments are required?

For the duration of your Invisalign® treatment, you will have regular appointments with your doctor to ensure that the treatment is progressing as planned. These are usually held every four to eight weeks.
