Lip Fillers

The Treatment

Lip Fillers are something of a polarising treatment these days, but you needn’t worry. As the lips are one of the first areas of the face to be affected by the signs of ageing, many people rely on fillers to restore volume and definition to this crucial feature. This is achieved by using hyaluronic acid, a substance which naturally occurs in the body. Over time, the body starts to produce less of it, with loss of lip plumpness visible at any point from our mid-twenties.

Lip Fillers are so popular because they address these concerns head-on, leaving behind fuller, more symmetrical lips and a facial enhancement that looks incredibly natural. At La Fuente, we will work with you to create lips that are more true to who you are, giving your confidence and appearance a much-needed boost.

How Do Lip Fillers Work?

Following a brief consultation, we’ll answer any questions you might have about the procedure. Our goal is to always ensure you feel as safe, comfortable and well-informed as possible.

Prior to treatment, a topical numbing cream might be applied to your lips and the surrounding areas to minimise discomfort. The injections themselves only take a few minutes. Our skilled aesthetician will need to stay as still as possible during this time.

Am I Suitable for Treatment?

If your lips aren’t as plump as they used to be, or if you would simply like to enhance how they look, you’re most definitely suitable for treatment. If you wish to achieve less natural-looking lips, our treatment may not be for you. Our focus is on building on your existing features, nothing else.

We don’t recommend you book in for Lip Fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You will also be unsuitable for treatment if you are under the age of eighteen.

FAQ's

Do Lip Fillers Hurt?

This depends entirely on your pain threshold - most people find the treatment a little uncomfortable but not painful. A topical numbing cream may be offered to reduce discomfort.

How Long Will The Results Last?

There’s no way of knowing exactly how long your lips will remain plump and volumised, but our results should last for 6-8 months. As hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the body, it will get broken down over time.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Immediately after your treatment, your lips might feel a little sore but this should pass within 48 hours. You should expect some swelling or bruising following the treatment, and this might last for around a week. You might even notice some small red spots where the needles were injected into your lips.

If you’re feeling particularly uncomfortable, an ice pack and over-the-counter painkillers (paracetamol) may be helpful.

Is There Any Downtime?

We advise that you try not to smoke or drink alcohol for at least 2 days following your treatment, as this has the potential to cause bruising or make existing post-procedure bruising worse. Drink plenty of water to stave off dehydration and avoid doing anything that might make you sweat.
