Marionette lines are the wrinkles that start at the corner of your mouth and extend vertically down to your chin. They get their name from the famous marionette puppets that were known for having a separate jaw so puppeteers could create the illusion of them talking. Marionette lines are completely harmless, however, they can affect your self-confidence and make you feel far from your best.

The type of wrinkles associated with marionette lines tend to form in your late thirties or forties, though for some people they may start to appear sooner. The Treatment
Unfortunately, unless you opt for invasive surgery there is no way to completely remove marionette lines. It is however possible to significantly reduce them by using certain injectables such as Botulinum toxin or Dermal Fillers.
Botulinum toxin injections are something you are probably familiar with as they are an extremely popular solution for combatting the signs of ageing. Botulinum toxin works by relaxing the muscles underneath the target area of skin. This stops your muscles from contracting which results in a more youthful and smoother appearance.
Dermal Fillers, or facial fillers as they are also known, are temporary injectables like Botulinum toxin that can be used to treat marionette lines that are beginning to form. Unlike Botulinum toxin, these fillers do not relax your muscles, instead, they combine certain acids and ingredients in order to replenish and add volume to a certain area of the skin. This plumps and firms the skin, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.
Both Botulinum toxin and Dermal Fillers can alter the appearance of your marionette lines. In some cases, the treatments are combined to help you achieve the best possible results.
Am I Suitable For Treatment?
If you feel like your marionette lines are becoming more prominent then you will benefit from treatment. Both Botulinum toxin and Dermal Fillers can lessen these lines and creases, however, you will get optimal results from this treatment if your marionette lines have only just begun to form.
Botulinum toxin and Dermal Fillers are usually suitable for any skin type, although there are certain scenarios which can complicate this matter. FAQ's
Does it hurt?
Most people experience minimal discomfort during treatment for marionette lines, however, if you are nervous about the injectables then we may be able to provide you with a form of painkiller or anaesthetic cream.
When will I feel the results?
Most people can see results from Botulinum toxin treatment after approximately five days. If you opt for Dermal Fillers, then you might need to wait a little longer as in some cases it can take two weeks for the filler to settle.
How many treatments are required?
The amount of treatments required varies from patient to patient, and all will be discussed in your consultation with La Fuente. People normally achieve significant results in one to two sessions.
