Plasma Pen
Treatment

What It Is

Fine lines, wrinkles, loose skin – the signs of age can imprint themselves on our bodies in various ways and, without appropriate cosmetic intervention, will only appear with increasing frequency as the years roll by. Plasma Pen treatment – an innovative, non-invasive procedure carried out with the help of a sophisticated pen-like device – targets the skin’s top layers to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, leaving the recipient with a tighter, younger-looking complexion all round.

Beginning life as a treatment for sagging skin around the eyes, the Plasma Pen can now correct issues all over the body, with plasma energy used to lift the skin on the neck and jaw as well as to diminish the visibility of crow’s feet at the corner of the eyes and to resurface the face in its entirety.

How Does It Work?

Plasma Pen treatment involves a small device being moved carefully over specific parts of the body in a powerful thirty-to-sixty-minute procedure. Over the course of this treatment, this small device sends out nitrogen plasma, a gas created when electrical energy is transformed into electrostatic energy, to inflict tiny injuries on the epidermis, the body’s uppermost layer of skin. At the same time, this energy is also sent deep into the dermis (the skin’s middle layer) to heat the fibroblasts that reside in this area. This results in an increase in collagen and elastin that works to repair the damaged skin, restore its texture and eliminate both fine lines and wrinkles.

This process can take up to twelve weeks, with fresh skin becoming more visible as the treatment’s micro-trauma begins to heal. The effects of Plasma Pen treatment can then be enjoyed for around three years.

Am I Suitable For Treatment?

As a safe and trusted treatment, Plasma Pen is a viable option for most patients wishing to reverse the signs of ageing. Your suitability for treatment will be determined during an initial consultation with one of our professionalisms and it is here that your medical history and your requirements will be explored in further detail.

You may be unsuited for Plasma Pen treatment if you are pregnant, have any allergies that may be triggered by this procedure or suffer from an immunodeficiency disorder. In most cases, the Plasma Pen can be adjusted to meet the needs of all skin types.

FAQ's

Does it hurt?

It is completely normal to experience some discomfort during Plasma Pen treatment. Any pain is usually more pronounced when plasma is directed at those areas of the skin that are more sensitive, such as the eyes. In these instances, we will provide you with a topical numbing agent.

When will results become visible?

Results will gradually become visible after the skin starts to peel (3-7 days after treatment) and can be seen in full after around 12 weeks.

How many treatments are required?

This depends on the area of skin being treated but most patients normally only need to book in for one Plasma Pen session.

Is there any downtime?

Although there is minimal downtime associated with Plasma Pen treatment, you will be expected to keep up a rigorous aftercare programme at home in the weeks after your procedure. This will ensure that your skin heals as it should and will go towards enhancing the results of your treatment.
