TCA Chemical
Peel

What It Is

Ever since their inception, Chemical Peels have provided patients with a powerful solution to a large number of skin and ageing concerns, from the development of fine lines and wrinkles to prominent areas of sun damage and acne scarring.

The TCA Chemical Peel is a medical-grade variation of this advanced facial treatment and is notable for its ability to penetrate the first two layers of skin (the epidermis and the dermis) in order to address any cosmetic problems at a deeper level than some of its counterparts.

As is the case with other Chemical Peels, the strength of the TCA Chemical Peel can be adjusted in intensity following the severity of the issues at hand and it’s for this reason that this procedure should only be performed by a trained medical professional.

The Treatment

Chemical Peels are chemical solutions that are applied to the skin to reverse the signs of ageing and generally revitalising the facial appearance of those who opt for this form of treatment. The TCA Chemical Peel is no different and uses trichloroacetic acid in order to help patients achieve an improvement in blemished, wrinkled and dull-looking skin.

When attending a TCA Chemical Peel at La Fuente, we will prepare your skin with a liquid cleanser and an alcohol-based solution. This will clear away any debris or dead skin cells that could inhibit the potency of this peel. The peel will then be gently painted onto your face before being left to settle for an agreed amount of time and removed when required.

Your skin will then peel over the next week and you will be given a selection of home treatment products to ensure that your face heals correctly and the results of this procedure are nothing short of optimal.

Although effects of the TCA Chemical Peel only become more pronounced with every top-up treatment you undergo, this peel also ensures that the skin will become more receptive to everyday skincare products and will therefore increase the effectiveness of your daily skincare regime.

Am I Suitable For Treatment?

Selecting the Chemical Peel that is right for you can be difficult, which is why we pride ourselves on our knowledge of all things skin.

In most cases, the TCA Chemical Peel is recommended to those who wish to eliminate the telltale signs of age, areas of acne scarring and inconsistencies in tone and texture. We would only advise against a TCA Chemical Peel if you have extremely sensitive skin. The TCA Chemical Peel is suitable for all skin types.

FAQ's

Does it hurt?

The TCA Chemical Peel is a strong acidic solution designed to strip the skin of its impurities and imperfections. As such, its application can be uncomfortable and patients have reported encountering a stinging or burning sensation during this procedure. This is completely normal and will subside once the peel solution has been removed.

When will results become visible?

This depends on the level of peel that you have chosen. Peels that penetrate deeper will produce results that are more instantly noticeable and you should remember that the full effects of this treatment will only become clear after the completion of the peeling process (about a week after treatment).

How many treatments are required?

Again, this depends on the strength of your peels. Stronger peels should be completed around twice a year and weaker treatments 3-4 times every 12 months.

Is there any downtime?

Regardless of the strength of your peel, you should expect to experience peeling for at least a week after your treatment. You should avoid all exposure to the sun during this period of time.
